Stroll with me in one of central London’s beautiful parks, coffee optional! I’m an independent producer/director in theatre but have spent the last 20 years working with teenagers who are disengaged from the education system for a variety of reasons. Not yet at the point of being expelled, but disconnected, directionless, and unhappy. I’m not a miracle worker, but I’ve had a broad spectrum of success, from enabling them to see beyond their current situation to, in some cases, recalibrating their outlook and behaviour so as to avoid serious personal and social repercussions. If you know of any young people, maybe your own siblings, friends, children, or you’re a teacher with particularly challenging issues, perhaps the skills I’ve developed over the years will be of help. My approach is not textbook but it does work.
