Embracing the Imperfect Kintsugi Inspired Session

Flexible date  ·  Westminster

Event details

Sometimes it is all about embracing the imperfect, repairing instead of creating... “You won't realize your full potential until you go through the tough times,” Kumai says. In the current climate, when anxiety, sadness and anger is very much present, I would like to invite you to slow down and embrace the imperfect through this Kintsugi inspired session. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art. Every break is unique and instead of repairing an item like new, the 400-year-old technique actually highlights the "scars" as a part of the design. If you have a broken ceramic item, please don’t throw it, but keep and bring it with you to repair. If you don’t have it - you are still welcome to join but I would ask you to bring a piece of your beloved pottery with you. We will be using alternative to gold and lacquer materials such as epoxy, silver and pearl dust that I am collecting at the moment and will be sharing with you on the day. You are welcome to bring your own ‘mix’ to make it more personal. Also, I will be sharing some further ideas and inspo in the chat once you join. Please make a donation starting from £10+. All money will go to the Ukrainian Red Cross 🧡🇺🇦 Looking forward to embracing the imperfect together 🧡
