Event details
Join us at Leisure Enterprise for a visit to Charleston House and the wine lands of Sussex. Charleston House is the modernist home and studio of artists Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant. The house is uniquely decorated by Bell and Grant who painted not just the walls but every imaginable surface making it a living, breathing work of art. This place was the gathering point of some of the 20th century’s most radical creatives and thinkers known collectively as the Bloomsbury group which included people like Virginia Woolf and John Maynard Keynes. In the spirit of its founders, we intend to bring people together to engage with art and ideas. Since the house is conveniently located in Sussex wine land we shall not miss a chance to visit one of the local vineyards to enjoy the views and unique English sparkling flavors of the region Schedule 10.20 - Meet at Victoria train station for a train and short taxi to Charleston 11.45 - Arrival and visit to Charleston House and the exhibition of erotic drawings by Duncan Grant in dialogue with contemporary artists exploring themes of sex, intimacy, gender and identity. 14.00 - Two-course lunch at Artelium vineyard with a wine tasting followed by a tour of the vineyards. 17.00 - Return to London by train.
