Unlock Your Flexibility 8th October 1-3.30pm @Jackon's Lane 269a Archway Road London N6 5AA 'Unlock Your Flexibility' is a 150 minute-long flexibility class based on contortion technique. The aim is to teach students how to regulate the nervous system whilst bending, and increase their range of motion. It consists of a brief introduction with theory, a warm-up using a mixture of active, isometric and passive stretching drills, which prepare the body to go deeper before exploring fundamental postures such as the splits, cobra, bridge, elbow bridge/pincha and cheststands. And finally, neutralising exercises to cool down. This contemporary contortion workshop session addresses the following: -body awareness -deepening your range of motion mindfully and efficiently by learning to isolate different body parts -articulating the spine and creating space in the body -safe back bending technique through passive, active & isometric exercises -how to finally get your splits and improve your lines - master your bridge pose The workshop is appropriate for all levels, and whilst exercises may be quite advanced, I will adjust each move to the student's level. Movement experience in dance, yoga, circus and/or callisthenics is an advantage but not a requirement. It's also worth mentioning that students should bring water, kneepads, and layers of clothing to kee their backs warm.
