Event details
For over 90 years pigs have been transported to the Farmer John slaughterhouse only 10 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. This is the largest slaughterhouse in the Southwest and it is finally closing. For the last 6 years, LA Animal Save and Animal Alliance Network have been bringing compassion and kindness to pigs outside of the slaughterhouse in their last moments. Now both groups are coming together to give you a final opportunity to bear witness to these victims of animal agriculture until the last truck arrives. We hope you will attend and help us show the world the terrible injustice that is being done to these individuals as their lives are taken from them. Whether you have come to vigils in the past or you have always wanted to, these final vigils may be your last chance to bear witness in the Los Angeles area. The 5 final days of vigils will begin Sunday, January 29th and end Thursday February 2nd, 2023. There are separate event pages for each day, so please RSVP to day(s) you are able to attend. Day 5 - February 2, 7pm - February 3, 7am Speakers: Lisa Levinson, Gwenna Hunter, Janet Martinez, Justina Adorno, Jonathan Ohayan There will also be some special guests present and we will have some refreshments on hand thanks to our generous sponsors! These are the last vigils we plan to have to bear witness to the pigs. We want to make them as big as possible to attract a media presence so we can show the world what Farmer John and their parent company, Smithfield, is doing to them to sell their flesh to their customers. If we are going to make a final push for the pigs, we must show strength in unified numbers. We have the power to bring awareness to these other animals' plight for freedom. We invite you to make these final nights the most powerful tribute to honor the individual pigs, and to continue to fight this injustice, no matter where it is happening. Be a part of these final opportunities to be present, bear witness, and take a stand for the pigs! Stay tuned for additional details.
