Event details
You are warmly welcomed to a springtime 2-hour poetry workshop based around the theme of “Roots” 🌸 I’m an experienced workshop facilitator in the arena of creative writing, with a first class honours degree from Durham University in English Literature and Spanish and a Distinction grade PGCert in Teaching Creative Writing from Cambridge University. I have devised and delivered workshops before in community settings and at schools and charities, including The Pret Foundation and Freedom From Torture. My own writing is published in diverse print and digital outlets, and I am a regular performer at London spoken word events, often exploring themes of soulfulness, mental health and the urban in my poetry. I am passionate about the power of poetry to create deep and authentic connections between strangers in a city where busy lives can breed loneliness. I have seen first hand the inspiration and growth in self-esteem that can come about when we get in touch with our own creativity through writing and sharing. This will be a two-hour session featuring a range of writing prompts and facilitated discussions about poetry, with a focus on the theme of “roots” (to be taken both literally and metaphorically). It is open to everyone from complete beginners to those with more experience reading and writing poetry — a safe and nurturing space where everyone feels invited is an absolute must. It’s the first time that I’m using this app to promote my teaching and I welcome you to get in touch with me and ask me anything about the plans for the class, myself and my experience / previous testimonials. I very much look forward to hearing from you. 🙏🏼🖌
