Philosophy, Theology and Ethics reading & debate group for philosophers around the City. It’s been a while since I’ve studied and I have a mass of books and anthropologies I’d love to start going back through with group reflection. Perhaps we gather on an evening or weekend afternoon over 🧁🍇☕️ for group reading and debate. Meet-ups will happen around/close to City🏙️ There will be two types of meet-ups: A) Philosophers book club - group reading of a chosen book to expand our knowledge on various schools of thought, philosophers and their arguments; determinism, utilitarianism, existentialism… Followed by group crit. You will be required to purchase the chosen book. B) Philosophers debate club - cycling through philosophical questions on set topics (free will / Gods existence / ethics). Rules: Please answer the utilitarian poll upon joining🤔💭 Food for your thoughts: • Shouldn’t you kill one person if it saves many? (Utilitarianism) •Can you sincerely want a more equal society whilst knowingly being rich? (Ethics) • Do you really have free will? How can you know? (Determinism) • What makes you so sure you aren’t dreaming right now? (Existentialism)
