What is it? -The Perseid meteor shower is one of the most prolific and well-known meteor showers, occurring annually between mid-July and late August, with its peak around August 11th to 13th. Named after the constellation Perseus, from which the meteors appear to originate, the Perseids are caused by the Earth passing through the debris left by the comet Swift-Tuttle. During the peak, observers can typically see up to 60-100 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. The Perseids are renowned for their bright, fast-moving meteors and frequent fireballs, making them a popular event for stargazers and astronomers alike.
