From Russia with love… Epiphany 19th January

19 Jan, 7:30 AM  ·  Marylebone

Event details

Russian people, Christians have a tradition on the 19th of January to have an ice bath in the ice hole. This one is a religious tradition called Epiphany ( baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River) . We believe that this day open water becomes a saint and removes all negativity from our body and soul. Delivers from sins. By tradition… You need to duck under water three times and after each time bless oneself. We will do cold morning training and swim for health… Let’s meet on Wednesday 19 January next to Marble Arch and jogging around Hyde Park towards Serpentine Swimming Club http://serpentineswimmingclub.com/club-timeline for warming up. If you are brave enough to join us, you need to bring with you: Big towel, flip-flops and warm clothes for change. Lido is open for swimming only in the morning from 5-9am so this event must have to be in the morning before work. Meeting at 7:30am, sharp under Marble Arch, run about 3km and 15-30 min body weight training on the waterside to prepare our body for cold water 💦 We do things for good cause. Skip the breakfast, donate for needy 💰
