Express / Connect (Creative Writing Space)

4 Mar, 7:00 PM–9:00 PM

Event details

Express / Connect offers a warm virtual environment in which to tap into creative writing as a means of enhancing joie de vivre and lifting the spirits into Spring. As days lengthen and lighten, writing can support us to access a state of creative flow, process personal experience and connect with imagination. I am passionate about supporting people to develop a rewarding and unique relationship with language, storytelling and all things poetic, sharing the innumerable benefits that these art forms have brought in my own life. If you are interested in trying something new or deepening an existing practice as a creative scribe, Express/ Connect could be a perfect place for you to focus and explore in the company of like-minded souls. Note: concession price tickets for £10 are also available! Your ticket includes: 2-hour Zoom writing workshop, involving discussion to expand creativity, structured writing time in response to prompts, sharing and feedback Takeaway resource pack to inspire your writing practice Membership of Moonlight Poetic community The workshop is informed by an approach of trauma awareness and commitment to inclusive values, embracing de-colonial, feminist, queer and anti-racist considerations of narrative and power. While I believe that these spaces can have a therapeutic impact, I am not a qualified therapist and am mindful to incorporate trigger warnings as appropriate. Facilitated by: Jessica Clark Jess is a poet and writer with over three years of experience facilitating workshops for charities, schools and community centres. She is the author of two poetry collections and of articles published in Shado, Huck, Medium and other outlets. Jess is London-based and has a PGCert in Teaching Creative Writing from the University of Cambridge, as well as a first-class honours BA in English Literature and Spanish from Durham University. She is inspired about the role that communal creative writing spaces can play in fostering more empathetic, open and connected societies, as well as their transformative power on a personal level. Jess has lived in Peru and Southeast Asia as well as the UK.
