We'll begin our journey in the heart of the enchanting city of Bath, where we'll marvel at the iconic Bath Abbey, a stunning Gothic cathedral that dates back to the 7th century. Elevation in the city centre is approximately 20 metres (65 feet) above sea level. Next, we'll step back in time as we visit the famous Roman Baths, a well-preserved complex of steaming baths and ancient Roman architecture. From there, we'll ascend to Bath's scenic skyline, reaching elevations of around 230 metres (755 feet). Along the way, we'll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the city's honey-coloured Georgian buildings and the lush green countryside beyond. Our walk continues with a visit to the renowned Solsbury Hill, immortalised in Peter Gabriel's debut solo single. This Iron Age hillfort sits at an impressive elevation of 191 metres (625 feet) and offers sweeping vistas of the surrounding landscape. We'll then make our way to Kelston Round Hill, situated at 218 metres (715 feet) above sea level. This spot is famous for its stunning sunsets and unparallelled views of the rolling hills and valleys that define the region. As we take in the natural beauty, we'll learn about the hill's fascinating history, including its use as a beacon hill during the English Civil War. Our tour concludes with a visit to a charming local pub, where we can relax, refuel and reflect on the day's adventures. Options include include one of the famous Bath Ales, such as Gem, a well-balanced amber ale, and Wild Hare, a crisp and refreshing pale ale or one of the local gins which typically incorporate unique botanicals and flavours inspired by the city's history and landscape. For those with a sweeter tooth there are Bath Buns, made with sugar, currants, and candied peel, or Bath Oliver Biscuits, invented by Dr. William Oliver, an 18th-century physician from Bath and often served with cheese. This walk offers a perfect blend of history, nature, and camaraderie - an unforgettable experience in the timeless city of Bath!
