It’s 1896, and at Girton College Cambridge, the first in Britain to admit women, the female students are studying furiously to match their male counterparts. But whilst the boys go home with degrees and fine prospects, the girls are denied the right to graduate and go home unmarriageable. ‘Blue Stockings’ is the moving, hilarious and eye-opening story of four women fighting for the right to an equal education against the backdrop of suffrage.
