Chekhov Theatre Play

28 Jun, 7:30 PM–9:00 PM  ·  Kennington

Event details

Join me for an evening of great theatre! АЯТ Theatre presents Chekhov's poetic tale in the form of a black and white film. Director Dmitriy Turchaninov, alumni of The Moscow Art Theatre School where Chekhov's plays were first performed, takes audiences on an impressionistic journey through the seasons and the psychological process of falling in love. Gurov, a dissatisfied adulterer, pursues a trivial holiday romance with Anna Sergeyvna, an unhappily married woman. While Gurov sees it as a casual pastime, Anna falls deeply in love. When their secret affair comes to an end and they go back to their respective lives, summer turns to winter, and life will no longer be the same. Dr. Chekhov's tale reminds us that love may not make life easier or solve all our problems, but it guarantees an escape from boredom. Those content with a mundane existence are advised to approach love cautiously.
