Brainwashing Machine is Coming to London. The much-talked-about international exhibition dedicated to methods of propaganda, using contemporary Russia as an example, will open on September 8 at The Crypt Gallery. Nadezhda Tolokonnikova (Pussy Riot), Sasha Skochilenko, Philippenzo, Anton Unai, Pavel Otdelnov, Marina Núñez, Vasan Sitthiket, and other renowned artists from around the world will activate brainwashing mechanisms through painting, graphics, embroidery, ceramics, installations, animation, and digital art. Artists will transport participants of Brainwashing Machine to modern Russia—a country with cannibalistic laws against those who do not support state propaganda or simply differ from the majority—and will ask them to make their choice. Some of the Russian artists exhibiting their work are under criminal prosecution for their protest art. The exhibition will run from September 8 to September 22.
