Oksana Salamatina
About me
After studying at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice as part of the Peggy Guggenheim scholarship, I came to New York and continued working with Sotheby’s and then at Christie’s before taking a position at the Nassau County Museum of Art. There, I assisted with exhibitions later moving to the New Museum of Contemporary Art when it opened its new Bowery location in 2007. I was deeply involved in organizing the influential exhibitions Unmonumental: The Object in the 21st Century and Tomma Abts before founding Salamatina Gallery in 2009, which I direct to this day, working with emerging, mid-career, and established modern and contemporary artists from the United States and abroad. The gallery supports various important initiatives including Autism Speaks, Breast Cancer Research and many other non-for-profit organizations.
